Esta historia que cuenta con libretos de Liliana Abud, traerá a las tardes de Nuestra Tele una historia enmarcada en el sacrificio de una madre soltera que para evitar el rechazo de la sociedad, tiene que entregar su hija a su empleada del servicio y bajo el papel de madrina, ve como su pequeña crece, hasta empezar a vivir los sufrimientos del amor imposible.
En los primeros capítulos de esta producción se podrán apreciar escenarios naturales de los estados mexicanos de Tabasco y Chiapas, en donde se planteará toda la trama de la historia de amor que envolverá al público colombiano.

En el año 2000, fecha original de su emisión, la novela fue ganadora de múltiples premios por Mejor Protagonista, Antagonista y Coprotagonico, femenino y masculino y mejor tema musical.
La banda sonora de la producción estuvo cargo de Juan Gabriel, con el tema del mismo nombre de la novela.
