La Capital, una de les amfitriones musicals d'Amèrica Llatina. Bogotà i Los Angeles són les primeres ciutats confirmades com amfitriones de la 8a edició dels Premis MTV Llatinoamèrica 2009, en cerimònia que es realitzarà el 15 d'octubre pròxim.

La designació de Bogotà com una de les seus de Els Premis MTV 2009 es suma a altres importants èxits com Bogotà Capital Mundial del Llibre 2007, Bogotà Capital Iberoamericana de la Cultura 2007, el Premi Lleó d'Or a la Biennal d'Arquitectura de Venècia en el any 2006, així com a una sòlida cadena de efectives gestions que fan avui de Bogotà un marc de referència obligat en el continent i atrauen al país ia la ciutat la inversió estrangera.
Bogotà està començant a destacar com un clúster cultural. Aquesta realitat és palpable no només amb la selecció com a seu dels Premis MTV o amb l'obertura de les seves oficines a Colòmbia, sinó també perquè el Districte comença a ser assenyalat com a destinació d'esdeveniments massius i d'impacte com els rodatges de les sèries Mental i Temps Final o la novel · la que rodarà Nickelodeon Llatinoamèrica en coproducció amb Sony anomenada "Isa TQM" (T'estimo molt).

Shakira ha estat l'artista més premiada en la història de LosPremios MTV amb 11 llengües, seguida per 10 de Juanes. Juanes és el primer artista en rebre la llengua blanca, Premi "agents de canvi", per la seva tasca social.
