Mastodon will present his new album in Colombia, opening for Metallica
"Crack The Skye" is the fourth album by American progressive metal band Mastodon , a concept album based on the Russia of the czars, travel astral-body experiences and the theories of Stephen Hawking on wormholes.
Confirmation of Mastodon as a band invited to the concert of Metallica , adds tons of adrenaline to this show, and attendees will have the opportunity to see live for the first time in Colombia, the largest group in recent years in the new metal scene in the world.
"Crack The Sky" is conceived as a whole. A conceptual album seventies style, and a somewhat psychoactive argument: the actor, who suffers from paraplegia, an astral journey initiated through the universe that will meet Rasputin himself, who will accompany you on your journey through the world spirits, until his return to heaven. The album is dedicated to Dailor sister, Skye, who committed suicide when he was fourteen.
In "Crack The Skye", they note evolved, much more relaxed and mostly experimental. Starting with "Oblivion" with an extensive introduction until it reaches the lyrics, the album starts with power but not in a violent manner. We follow the trail "Divinations" the first single from the album and the shorter the remaining issues are not less than 5 minutes. This shows that in most of the songs you notice a great process between each song, changing rhythms and riffs very space constant.
"The Czar" and "The Last Baron", the first divided into 4 parts "Usurper," "Escape," "Martyr" and "Spiral" is a concise theme and very good change of pace. "Ghost of Karelia" brings some speed to the disk and followed aggressively "Crack The Skye". And as a finale, the impressive end disc "The Last Baron", this topic brings out his signature style of Groove Metal Tech, the theme is melodic, aggressive and extreme.
"Crack The Skye" sold 41,000 copies in its first week in U.S. and debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
